About the film

A documentary that, telling the Red Bull X-Alps experience, reveal the deepest feelings of how digital appearances are destroying our courage to be imperfect.
Nicola at the age of 24 is called to the toughest adventure race in the world: to cross the Alps only by combining paragliding and hiking with the gear on your back.
The Red Bull X-Alps told from the unique point of view of those who believed that nature, emotions and friendship would be the right ingredients to win any challenge. For his team, winning the race is not necessarily what they want but they will know themselves during the journey.

About the route

For the 10th edition of the race in 2021, organisers updated the format to create an out-and-back route. This sees athletes battle their way from Salzburg to Mt Blanc and back to Zell am See via 12 Turnpoints in five countries. At 1,238km it is the longest route in the race’s history. Some Turnpoints encompass a wide area and can be passed in the air while others are on the ground, requiring athletes to land and sign a board.

True hike and fly

Athletes race from 05:00 until 22:00 but they can only fly during daylight hours between 06:00 to 21:00. Overnight, a mandatory rest period is in place and athletes cannot move from their location. However, each athlete is equipped with a Night Pass, which allows them to break the curfew once. This can help to gain a strategic advantage, but it comes at the cost of exhaustion.

Supporter Team

4 supporters doing the whole adventure with Nick. They supported him with strategy, route, weather forecast, food, sleeping arrangements, physical injuries and more.

Media Team

Glauco Tortoreto, the director, is specialized in outdoor productions and shooting at the limits of the feasible. Together with him, an executive producer, a cinematographer and an operator managed to film all the emotions, sensations and highlights of the adventure. The Media Team underwent an 8-month technical, physical and mental preparation to be able to keep up with the athletes and follow them across the Alps in rain, snow and extreme cold conditions.

A SINCERE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS PROJECT POSSIBLE.
